Nintendo Direct: Take a Closer Look at Sonic Superstars and Its All-New Zones
SEGA announced Sonic Superstars during Summer Game Fest about a week ago, but fans are already being treated to yet another look at the upcoming game. In the spirit of the New Super Mario Bros. series, Sonic Superstars features modern visuals with classic Sonic the Hedgehog gameplay. What’s more, it also boasts local four-player co-op for the first time. Take a look at the game in action:
Here’s a bit more about Sonic Superstars from the press release:
Spin dash with Sonic and friends through the mystical Northstar Islands in this new high-speed, 2D side-scrolling platformer game. Speed through 12 new zones as one of four playable characters and the return of an old nemesis. Harness seven new Emerald powers to move and attack in dynamic ways like climbing waterfalls, multiplying and more. And for the first time in the series, you can play through the entire campaign with friends in local co-op, available for up to four players. Combine your powers against Dr. Eggman and Fang when Sonic Superstars launches on Nintendo Switch this fall.
It is very cool to see SEGA branching beyond Green Hill Zone for this game (something this writer complained about being brought back for Sonic Frontiers, as it so happens), not to mention bringing back Sonic comic mainstay Fang to take on the Blue Blur and friends. Still no release date, but Sonic Superstars is set for a fall launch. Let us know what you think of the game so far down in the comments and on social media!
